Kaupinmaja is an atmospheric log cabin located at the heart of Finnish Lapland, foot of fell Kuer on next to lake Pikku-Kaupinjärvi, close to the services of the village of Äkäslompolo and Ylläs ski-resort. You can also admire the same scenery directly from the floors of the newly renovated sauna. When the circumstances are right, the Northern Lights will appear dancing over the fells, which can be admired directly from the window of the cottage or from the courtyard of the cottage. From the piste from the end of Pikku-Kaupinjärvi (allowed for dogs) you can get directly to the best cross-country ski trails in Finland. In addition, after a distance of about 1km, the trail connects with a lighted trail. From the cottage you can also go directly to the fell Kuer conquest expedition. Ylläs also offers more spectacular mountain bike trails to ride both in summer and winter. The cabin is bird watchers dream. Directly from the terrace or window of the cottage you can watch the birds watching and tinkering on the lake. For example, the same Swan couple arrives every spring for nesting trees in Pikku-Kaupinjärvi. A couple of otters, as well as occasionally a beaver, appear directly outside the cottage to frolic. On the opposite shore of Lake Pikku-Kaupinjärvi you will find the Konijänkä which provides horse tours with both husky and reindeer rides, also just visiting the farm is a fun experience where you can feed horses and reindeer.
The cottage has 4G wireless internet connection which allows, for example, to work remotely from the comfort of the fells and round logs. The heating of the cabin and, if necessary, the cooling is carried out by an air heat pump. In frosty temperatures, the fireplace and electric radiators provide additional heat. In the yard shed you can find kick sledges as well as toys for snowmaking. There is a water hose on the outside to allow the bike to be rinsed conveniently after the trip.
