    Certain features do require registration, for which you'll need an Alma account. However, you can freely browse listings and search for the perfect mökki for you. Make sure to register when you find a suitable listing, as sending an inquiry or an offer or booking request to the host is only possible as a registered user. Registration is completely free. Once registered, you can both rent listings and, if you wish, post your own rental listing.

  • How do I register as a user?

    Register by creating an Alma account, which allows you to use Nettimökki and other Alma Media services with a single account. If you don't have an Alma account yet, select "Log in as a private user" and proceed to the login page. Choose "New user - Create Alma account." Enter your name, email address, set a password for your account, and select "Register." Confirm your account via the verification email sent to you. From then on, your email address will serve as your username.

    On your first login, complete the requested information, accept Nettimökki’s terms of use, and save your details.

  • What is an Alma account?

    An Alma account is a universal user account for Alma Media's services, allowing you to log in to various Alma media, services, apps, and forums. This account facilitates seamless navigation between Alma's online services.

  • How do I get an Alma account?

    When you create a new user account, you automatically receive an Alma account. If you already have an existing account, you can use it to access Nettimökki as well. If you cannot log in with your old username, update your password by clicking the "Forgot your password?" link on the login page. There's no need to create a new account if you've previously used Nettimökki while logged in.

  • Why can't I log in?

    First, ensure that your username and password are entered correctly. Check that the caps lock key is not on and that there are no extra spaces in the username field. Also, confirm that you have verified your Alma account via the confirmation email sent to you. Additionally, make sure that cookies are enabled in your browser. You can find the cookie settings at the bottom of the homepage.

  • I didn't receive the Alma account verification email. What should I do?

    You can request a new verification email through the login menu. Enter the email and password you used during registration, and click "Log in." If your email hasn't been confirmed yet, a "Please verify your email address" window will appear. To order a new verification email, click the link at the end of the message: "Didn't receive the verification email? Click here to request a new one."

    If you haven't received the activation email, also check your spam folder. If the activation link is still not found, contact customer service using the contact form. Remember to include the email address you used during registration in your message.

  • I received a notification that a user already exists with my email address. What does this mean?

    It means that your email address has already been registered with a service that uses the Alma account. The Alma account is utilised across most Alma Media services. If you don't remember your password, you can request a new one by clicking the "Forgot your password?" link in the login window.

  • I've forgotten my password. How can I get a new one?

    You can request a new password to be sent to your email by clicking the "Forgot your password?" link on the Login page. Use the same email address you registered with.

  • How can I update my name details?

    Users always operate in the service under their own name (first name and last name). If there's an error in your provided name details, you can update your name by logging into the Alma account self-service portal. Edit your name information under the "Omat tiedot" / "My Details" section.

  • How can I delete my user account?

    If you wish to remove your account from the Nettimökki registry, send a deletion request through the Alma account self-service portal. Select the Alma Media services from which you want your information to be deleted.

Renting a Cottage

  • Does Nettimökki act as the host?

    Nettimökki is a platform for renting cottages and cabins, where guests and hosts can connect. Nettimökki functions as a marketplace for holiday cottages but is not a party to the rental agreement. If you have specific questions regarding the cottage's amenities, pricing, or arrival times, please contact the owner directly through the platform.

  • How do I rent through Nettimökki?

    To make a booking on Nettimökki, you need to be a registered user. Select your desired dates from the listing's calendar and send a booking request. The cottage owner has 24 hours to accept your request, after which it will automatically expire if not confirmed.

  • How can I contact the cottage host and when will I receive a response?

    You can contact the cottage host by sending an inquiry through the listing page. In your inquiry, you can ask detailed questions about the cottage, its amenities, and rental specifics. After your inquiry, you can request the host to send you an offer for approval or book your desired dates directly from the listing's booking calendar.

    For all questions related to the cottage and its rental, please contact the host directly. The host will receive notifications of all messages sent to them via Nettimökki.

  • How do I find interesting cottages and cabins?

    Searching for a rentable cottage starts with the search. You can refine your search by location, number of guests, and the dates you wish to rent the cottage. Additionally, you can search for cottages with specific features, such as a sauna, fireplace, or hot tub. If you want to enjoy proximity to water, you can also look for cottages located by a lake, river, or the sea. Furthermore, you can search based on the number of rooms to find accommodation that perfectly suits your needs.

  • How do I save listings as favourites?

    You add interesting cottages to your favourites by clicking the heart icon on the listing page. This allows you to compare different cottages and return to them later. To save a listing to your personal list, you need to be logged in. Cottage listing will also be saved for the duration of a single session, even if you're not logged in.

  • How can I rent a cottage?

    Renting is easy! To book a listing with Nettimaksu, you need to register as a user on Nettimökki. Once registered, you can select your desired dates from the calendar and send a booking request. Along with your request, you can also ask the cottage host any additional questions you might have. The host has 24 hours to respond; otherwise, the request will automatically expire. After the host's approval, you can proceed with the payment. Once the host confirms and you've completed the payment, your booking request becomes a binding reservation. Some hosts offer an instant booking option, allowing you to select the rental period and pay immediately.

    If a listing does not have the Nettimaksu label, the booking can be made through the platform but is only confirmed once the host approves your booking request. Payment arrangements and other rental terms should be directly agreed upon with the cottage host.

  • Where do I get the keys? What are the check-in and check-out times?

    The check-in and check-out times for your rental will be displayed in your booking details. Make sure to arrange all rental specifics directly with the cottage host. Use Nettimökki's messaging feature for communication, so that all agreed details are recorded alongside your booking for both parties.

  • Can I review the cottage after my rental?

    After your cottage stay, you will receive an automatic email inviting you to review the cottage you rented. To submit a review, you need to be logged in. You can provide a star rating for various aspects of the rental experience, as well as write a written review. This feedback serves as information for the cottage host on the success of the rental and as guidance for future guests. Additionally, we use your feedback to improve our service. Your review will be published on the listing page of the cottage and will influence its star rating.

  • How can I cancel my booking?

    For cottage listings with Nettimaksu, there are three types of cancellation policies, and the cottage host has selected the one suitable for their rental cottage. You can find the specific cancellation terms in both the listing details and your booking information. If you need to cancel your booking, always do so through the service via the booking detail page, which will automatically cancel your confirmed reservation. Before cancelling, check the cancellation terms of your booking: any refunds of the rental fee will be processed automatically according to these terms.

    For cottage listings without Nettimaksu, you must arrange the cancellation terms directly with the cottage host.

  • What are the cancellation policies for a booking?

    For cottage listings with Nettimaksu, the cancellation policies are standardised as Flexible, Average, or Strict. You can check the cancellation policy for your booking in your booking details, where you'll also find the specifics of each policy. These details are also available in Nettimökki's terms of use.

    For cottage listings without Nettimaksu, the cancellation terms are set by the cottage host. It is advisable to agree on these terms in writing before making a booking.

  • What should I do if there's an issue with the rental?

    Renting is a transaction between the guest and the cottage owner, so any issues should be promptly addressed directly with the owner. If your booking was made using Nettimaksu, either party can submit a dispute request within 24 hours of the rental's start. In the case of a dispute request, we will not transfer the payment to the cottage owner until the issue is resolved or 30 days have passed since the request. Our customer service team will support you in resolving the matter to the best of their ability.

Paying Rent with Nettimaksu - Online payment

  • How does the payment process work?

    Cottage listings marked with Nettimaksu -badge are booked by securely paying through the service. The payment is held in a customer reserve account and is transferred to the cottage host no sooner than 24 hours after the rental start time, allowing you to inspect the property.   • What payment methods can I use?

    When paying through Nettimökki, you can use online banking from Finnish banks, MobilePay, and the following credit and debit cards: Visa, MasterCard, and Business Eurocard. If a cottage listing does not have the Nettimaksu label, your booking is only confirmed once the host approves your booking request. In such cases, payment arrangements should be agreed directly with the host.

  • Can I pay in instalments?

    Yes, you can pay for cottage rental with Nettimaksu either in one or two instalments. The first instalment must be completed within 24 hours of the booking request being confirmed. You can make the payment by logging into Nettimökki and accessing your booking from the Messages folder. A payment link will also be sent to your email. The first instalment includes the service fee and 20% of the total rental amount. The due date for the second instalment depends on the booking's cancellation terms. This instalment accounts for 80% of the total rental amount. You will receive a reminder email about this second payment a week before its due date. If the second instalment is not paid by the deadline, the booking will be considered cancelled by the guest.   • What is Nettimaksu?

    Nettimaksu is Nettimökki's phased, secure payment method for online payments. You pay the agreed rent or booking fee via online banking or credit card, and the cottage host is notified of the payment. The payment is transferred to the host only after your rental has started.

  • What does 'Instant Booking' mean?

    Cottage listings with 'Instant Booking' are exceptionally easy and convenient to reserve! If the cottage host has enabled the instant booking option for their cottage, you can book and pay for the rental cottage immediately. This allows you to secure your rental instantly without needing separate confirmation from the host.

  • Will I receive a receipt for the rental?

    Yes, when you pay the rent through Nettimökki with Nettimaksu, you will always receive a payment receipt detailing the rental specifics. These receipts are stored on your user account within the service, allowing you to view and download your previous receipts by logging in. The receipts are electronic and can be downloaded as PDF files.

  • What does the rental price include?

    Check the terms set by the cottage host. Some additional services may be included in the rental price, while others might be available for an extra fee. If needed, contact the cottage owner directly for more information.

  • I received an invoice in my email, what should I do?

    Listings with Nettimaksu are always booked and paid for through Nettimökki. You should make payments by logging into the service with your own user credentials. If you receive an email or any communication that you suspect might be fraudulent, please report it to our customer service immediately.

A listing cannot be published without a valid payment service agreement. After publishing your first listing, you can set up the payment service agreement via the Host's Dashboard. The service will remind you to complete the agreement if you have an unpublished draft listing. Once you've activated the agreement, your listing will be published with the Nettimaksu badge, indicating to guests that payments can be handled securely through the service.   • How do I set up a payment service agreement?

    To set up a payment service agreement, log into Nettimökki and navigate to the "My Profile" page. Select "Set up payment service agreement" and follow the instructions. Creating the agreement requires strong authentication, either via Finnish online banking credentials or a mobile certificate. An active payment service agreement is necessary for publishing your listing. Remember to publish your listing after activating the agreement!   • Does the service provide assistance with declaring tax information?

    Income earned from renting out as an individual should be declared as capital income. We offer a report within the service to help you with your declaration. You can also declare expenses related to the rental as deductions on your tax return.

  • Does Nettimökki's service include insurance?

    Nettimökki's service does not include insurance. We recommend checking what your current insurance policies cover in relation to rental activities and ensuring they provide adequate coverage.

  • How much does it cost to list my cottage on Nettimökki?

How the renting process work?

  • How can a guest contact me?

    The most convenient way to communicate with your guest is through Nettimökki's own chat, ensuring all booking-related communication is stored in one place. You will also receive email notifications of any messages related to your cottage listing. Remember to check your email regularly and respond promptly to messages via the Host's dashboard! A booking request from a guest will expire after 24 hours if you don't respond. The quicker you reply to a booking request, the more likely the rental will proceed.

  • How is the rental payment processed?

    Once a guest has paid for the rental through the service, the amount is transferred to our client account. If a security deposit has been collected with the booking, the rental amount will be transferred to you 24 hours after the rental period ends. In other cases, the payment is transferred 24 hours after the rental period begins. All rental payments are processed on a transactional basis, and the funds will appear in your account within 1-3 banking days, depending on your bank.

  • What does 'Instant Booking' mean?

    When you enable Instant Booking, your cottage can be rented and paid for immediately without requiring separate confirmation from you. Renting becomes easy and quick! You can set up scheduled messages in the service to provide information about, for example, key collection or check-in procedures. You will receive a notification of an Instant Booking via email, and it's a good idea to regularly check the service for any messages left by the guest.

  • How does the rental deposit work on Nettimökki?

    A rental deposit provides protection in case of issues. For listings with Nettimaksu -online payments, you can set a rental deposit for your property, which is added to the rental price. The deposit is held in a client account and returned to the guest after the rental period ends, provided everything proceeds smoothly. The deposit is automatically refunded to the guest's account 24 hours after the rental concludes, unless you have initiated a dispute regarding the rental.

  • Is a receipt provided for the rental?

    Yes, both parties involved in the rental receive a receipt detailing the specifics of the transaction. As a host, you can download a detailed report of all your rentals from the Host's dashboard. The guest can download an electronic receipt for their rental directly from the service.

  • How is key delivery or departure from the cottage handled?

    Arrange the handover of keys directly with the guest. It's important to provide all information related to the rental, including instructions and rules, in writing as soon as the booking is confirmed. This allows your guest to review them in advance and ask any clarifying questions if needed. You can determine how soon the next rental can begin, ensuring you have time to check the cottage or organise cleaning after the previous guest's departure. The cottage should be in the agreed condition at the start of the new rental period.

  • How can a guest review my cottage?

    After each rental, the guest receives an automatic message prompting them to leave a review. It's advisable to encourage your guest to submit a review, as successful rentals are reflected in your listing's star rating and feedback. The star rating influences your listing's position in search results and enhances the chances of securing new rentals. The more positive feedback you receive from satisfied guests, the more competitive your listing becomes!

  • Can I cancel a booking?

    Cancel a booking only for a very compelling reason, as it can create an inconvenient situation for the guest. A cancellation fee will be charged for a cancelled booking, which will be deducted from your next payment. For more details, please refer to the pricing page.
