Nauvo is a former Finnish municipality located in the region of Southwest Finland, known especially for its diverse archipelago. Comprising as many as 3,000 islands and islets, Nauvo has historically served as an important base for boaters and fishermen. The area's long history is reminded by Nauvo's medieval grey stone church, whose construction began as early as the 1430s.
Following the municipal merger in 2009, Nauvo became part of Länsi-Turunmaa together with Parainen, Korppoo, Houtskari, and Iniö, and later part of the new city of Parainen. The area is bilingual, with about 70 percent of the residents speaking Swedish as their mother tongue. Thanks to bilingualism and numerous foreign tourists, Nauvo has a pleasantly international atmosphere.
In addition to cottage life, there is plenty to do in Nauvo: explore the stunning archipelago by boat, spend a summer day on high cliffs, rent a kayak for a paddling trip, hike nature trails, visit historical buildings in the area, and spend the evening enjoying good food and drink in Nauvo's restaurants.
