Meri-Veikko is a log cabin built in 1989 by the sea on the island of Särkisalo Pettu, about 1-2.5 hours drive from the largest cities in Southern Finland. The cottage is a great place to retire alone or with a friend in the middle of nature, peace and quiet for a while, for example, to do creative work, etc. telework. You can get there comfortably by car. A short ferry trip takes about 5 minutes. For cyclists, the cottage is well suited. There is a signposted cycle route around the island, which is part of a wider cycle route from Hanko to Salo, Teijo and on to Särkisalo or Kemiö island. The cottage is also suitable for 1-2 fishermen and is an inexpensive accommodation. The cottage is located on a wonderful seafront surrounded by archipelago pines, in the courtyard of a larger cottage, where we two pensioners live all year round. We understand very well our client's need for their own peace and we keep to ourselves. Meri-Veikko's second nearest neighbour is a holiday cottage about 100 metres away, covered in trees. By the way, there is a c. 1 km long uninhabited shore and a few scenic little islands within rowing distance. Of course, the entire island of Pettu is a scenic forest, in which it is easy to walk. The island is approximately 6 km long and 3 km wide with sand roads running around and across it. The cottage folder contains suggestions for suitable walks. The sea is only 15 m from the cottage. In front of the cottage there is a hard-bottomed, shallow beach. There is a rowing boat on the shore, for which you can rent an outboard motor from us. There is no pier on our shore for bigger boats. If you have a bigger boat of your own and want to launch it, you can do it at a nearby Saaristotila Lönnviken. The cottage Meri-Veikko has an interior of 25 m2, in addition an outdoor terrace. The interior of the cottage has been renovated in 2022, combining the new and the old in a cozy way. On the terrace there is a sitting area and a gas grill. The cottage has a internet connection. Interiors include a main kitchen and a wood-burning sauna. The kitchen-living room has a sofa bed that opens up to a double bed, 140 cm wide when opened. A wood-burning fireplace bring warmth and atmosphere to the living room kitchen. The room is also heated/cooled by an air heat pump. The sauna is wood-heated and the washing area has underfloor heating, a shower and a freeze-dry toilet. NB! Dogs are allowed, but please always inform them in advance.
