As a holiday destination, Kalasääski is unlikely to compete with Paris or even with its younger cousins Koskikara (https://www.nettimokki.com/akaslompolo/koskikara/50887/) or Napaketu (https://www.nettimokki.com/akaslompolo/napakettu/51976/) in Ylläs. To feel comfortable here, it is not entirely necessary to be an ascetic nature person, but it helps... In summer it is impossible to avoid a day
without seeing a fish fly or a cuckoo. Surrounded bysandy and rocky beaches, in the middle of the South Konnevesi National Park, Kalasääski offers an ideal base for exploring the kingdom of fish swallows both in summer and in winter. You can start the day with a swim half a stone's throw from the cottage on the eastern sandy beach and move to the adjacent cliff for breakfast. The western cliff, suitable for the five o'clock tea moment, is just as close, next to a natural sandy beach that opens to the west
. Thesurroundings of the cottage are a private nature reserve that we want to cherish for posterity. Therefore, tread very carefully on the palleporon lichen, so that others can admire it. The beach areas are rocky and near the cottage is sandy. It is no wonder that in time the people of the area have reportedly come to spend midsummer on these sands. The log cabin itself is ascetic, compared to a Norwegian fell hut, which is a degree or more cozy than a Finnish desert hut. Cooking with gas or wood stove, heating for colder seasons with wood stove and/or fireplace. There are plenty of places to sleep for four. The cottage is connected with a sauna with a small dressing room. A rowing boat and two SUP boats with paddles and other equipment are available for navigation on the water

Kayaks can also be rented from us if necessary. Excursion skiing in winter? In winter, Lapland is a great hiking ski destination if you have time to travel. However, you can also get into the wilderness atmosphere by skiing in South Konnevesi. When skiing, the trip will be e.g. Ten kilometres from Kivisalmi, 5 km from Mäkäräniemi. Ski touring equipment such as skis, skis, etc. can also be rented from us.
NB! Due to ongoing construction, we are not accepting reservations for the time being. As a rule, it can be booked from 1 July 2025 onwards if and when the new sauna building is completed. The new sauna building will have a sauna (10m2) and a separate small (15m2) cabin
.If there are more than 4 guests staying on the island, an additional person will be charged 10, -/day to cover the sauna costs.

Booking and cancellation terms
The reservation is confirmed by paying 20% of the rental price no later than one week from the date of the invoice. The booking price is non-refundable. The final invoice to be sent separately must be paid 30 days before the rental date. If the reservation is made less than 6 weeks before the rental date, the full rental amount must be paid within 1 week of the invoice. After paying the final bill, the rental amount will not be refunded unless weather/weather conditions such as ice conditions prevent you from going to the island.

Payment terms
You can also make a reservation just before going to Kalasääske, if a tent night without a sauna, for example in the rain, is not the first option. In this case, the key code will be obtained when the payment appears on the account. Payment is also possible with MobilePay (in this case, tel. 040-8328036).

Delays and compensations
The
rental price includes accommodation for the agreed number of people in Kalasääske and firewood and gas. The customer cleans up the traces of the use of the cottage in such a way that the cottage is in a tidy condition for the next visitor. The cottage, the yard building and the movable property including the keys must be handed back in the same condition as they were at the beginning of the rental period. Smoking is not allowed. The customer is obliged to compensate for the damage caused. If the customer discovers defects or defects in the property or in its movable property, the owner must be notified of this
